ARAB-ISRAEL

Posted by Mahdi Awada (Israel is not a Country Bulletin)

The ARAB-ISRAEL dispute is not religious; it is rather national, economical, political and most important from the side of humanity. Two Muslims or two Christian or two Jewish nations would have similar disputes, if they had a similar problem. If the Iraqis or the Syrians, occupied Palestine and driven its people out, the Palestinians would have taken toward them an attitude similar to their present attitude towards the Israelis.

Justice views the inalienable human rights of every human to:
• Live
• To be physically free
• To enjoy individual political freedom
• To exercise religious freedom (since religion is a private beliefs related to each individual)
• To enjoy equality under the law and equality in sharing the public wealth. No person is superior to other persons and no nation is inferior to other nations
• To reside at his home and to live in his country and to administer his belongings.

Thus, we view that the Palestinian Arabs, (without looking to their religion) have the rights to live in their homes and not to be driven of their country. The Israelis, on the other hand, claim that they have the right of establishing a state in Palestine and driving its people out of it… how come!!!!??
What they claim is due to religion. Even though I hate to go into details and speak in religions, since it is a private issue but let us go deep into what they say even if anyone does not believe in any… They do support their claim by the following:
• The Israelis were in palatine before the Arabs. Yet the Old Testament testifies that the Israelis were not the original inhabitants of Palestine. The Canaanites, the Amorites the Hittites, and other communities were in palatine before the Prophet Abraham entered the country. More over, we insist to say that Jewish live from long time in Palestine but yet we also insist to say that they used to live with other religions and not alone! There is no thing called the Israel Jewish Country…
• The Israelites support their claim by passages from the Old Testament. In the first chapter from the Book of Joshua, we read that God said to him:
"Moses, My servant is dead. Now, therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou and all these people, unto the land which I do give them, even to the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said to Moses From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the Sun, shall be your coast".
Most of the readers of the Old Testament did not pay attention to two important aspects:
1. The promise was not absolute. It is rather conditioned. It is conceivable that God has privileged a nation by giving it a land, but not for the sake of its nationality. God for (those who believe in God) is absolutely fair. He does not praise or blame, or reward or penalize anyone for something beyond his power. Man's relation to a nationality, family or race is not by choice. It is conceivable that God had preferred the Hebrew nation for accepting a Heavenly Faith when the rest of the nations were worshipping idols. However, this distinction could not continue when other nations accepted Heavenly Faiths and the Hebrew nation refused to accept two important Prophets: Jesus, and Mohammad. Therefore, we read in the Gospel the following:
"Jesus said unto them (the Israelis): Did you never read in the scriptures, the stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes. Therefore, say I unto you: the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder" Matthew 21:42-44
The statement is a prophecy informing the Jews that the kingdom of God shall be taken from them.
2. The second aspect is that the promise of God to the Israelites was not a promise to the Jews. It was actually a promise to the (children of Jacob). A Jew is not necessarily an Israelite (from the children of Jacob), nor would it be necessarily that an Israelite be a Jew. It is like confusing the word Muslim with the word Arab. A Muslim is not necessarily an Arab, for most of the Muslims are non-Arabs. Iran, Pakistan and Indonesia are Muslims, but not Arab countries. Millions of Arabs are Christians and Jews.

Would it not be possible that the Israelites stayed in Palatine and be Christian, Muslim and Jews?! And through this the promise of God was realized? The immigration of the Jews from Europe and the United States to Palestine does not fulfill that promise, because these immigrants are not necessarily from the children of Jacob. I do not thing that any American or European Jew can prove that he or she is from the children of Israel or even a Semite.
To make this clear, I would like to mention that the Hebrew Kingdom was divided after Solomon into two Kingdoms:
1. The Kingdom of Israel (the Northern Kingdom) whose capital was Nablus. This Kingdom was established in 953 and ended in 722 B.C. It was invaded by the Assyrians. These people took many Israelite captives and made them work in Assyria. This was the small captivity.
2. The Kingdom of Judah (the Southern Kingdom) whose capital was Jerusalem. This kingdom was established in 953 and ended in 682 B.C. This Kingdom lived three centuries. Finally it fell under the occupation of the Babylonians (the Chaldeans) in the days of the Chaldean Emperor Nebukhadnazaar. A great number of Israelites were taken into captivity and they continued in Chaldea until the Babylonian Empire was disintegrated at the hands of Persian Emperor Cyrus in 538 B.C. This Emperor brought the Israelites back from captivity to Palestine.
From historical background we should realize that when the Israelis came back to Palestine after their return from captivity before Jesus, they stayed in it and they did not leave it after Cyrus brought them back during the 6th century B.C.

Hope everyone understood that Jews has the right to live in Palestine, but there is no such country called Israel, or Jewish religious country nor any other religious country…
Who give Israelis the right to kill?!
Let us think twice! Who is the terrorist? Who is resisting for life and who is fighting for religion?!
When I say Israel is not a country, we should first know that this cause is a cause of humanity and no certain people are only concerned with it! All free people in the world wide are concerned! Our problem is that we think that this cause is just for a certain party or group...
Saying in a loud voice ISRAEL IS NOT A COUNTRY will obviously create a huge strong barrier between the right way of thinking and the mistaken one. I always insist to move this cause to the humanity view from the first sight, and not anything else! Since it is clear that we are not attaching anyone but we are saying that the Apartheid-"Israel", has no right to exist. Stop all the political propagandas, some of which we have seen in the Bush and the Obama`s Administration used against Americans that criticize it. If you criticize the war or the administration they call you unpatriotic, un-American, a traitor, a terrorist/terrorist-sympathizer, etc...
Hope to see Palestine free and go visit it some day and find all Palestinian families back in their villages and cities!
